Many JPEG photos contain EXIF metadata recorded by a camera or phone. It can include the device model, capture date, orientation and sometimes location information.
Step-by-step instructions
- Choose a JPEG photo in the CODAC EXIF Viewer.
- Review the fields detected in the text report.
- Check whether a GPS tag is present before sharing the original file.
- Keep the original if you need the metadata for archiving or evidence.
Helpful tips
- This CODAC version reports GPS-tag presence but does not display coordinates.
- Not every image contains EXIF metadata; screenshots and edited exports may omit it.
- Metadata can reveal information that is not visible in the image itself.
